Alien Registration

All foreign nationals residing in Japan are required to register at the municipal office of the city, ward, town or village, in which they are living. This must be done within a certain amount of time from the day of their residing in Japan.(In general, within 90 days from the date of his or her arrival in Japan)

When the registration has been carried out, a Certificate of Alien Registration containing the registered matters will be issued to the registrant bay the maker or headman of the city, ward, town or village.
All foreign nationals are required to carry the registration certificate at all times and to present it to the Immigration Inspector, Immigration Control Officer, Police Official if such an official requests the presentation of the registration certificate in the performance of his duties.

When a registrant has changed his or her place of residence or when any change has taken place in "Name", "Nationality", "Occupation","Status of residence","Period of stay", or "Name and location of place where the alien is employed or his or her office", he or she is required to apply for registration of such change within 14 days of the day on which the change has taken place.

After you are allowed to enter into Japan, get the place to live and safely settle down, Alien Registration is the first thing to do !
